Last night Digiwaxx hosted a listening session for the Nas/Damian Marley album “Distant Relatives” which hits stores on May 18. We were able to preview 4 tracks off the album. One of the standout tracks we heard was “Depair” which was produced by Damian. Nas is flowing on a sick tribal/african beat..Beat selection was definitely not a problem this time..Nas stated that he just watched Marley work and went with the music as he heard it. The project took about a year and a half to complete. The majority of the project was produced by Marley himself with 1 track produced by his brother Stephen. Another standout track was “Promiseland”. The track is heavily Jamaican/Reggae tinged but Nas was flowing over it easily. There was a cohesiveness between the music and the lyrics..we were surprised to say the least. Definitely cop the album when it comes out..
Shouts to Digiwaxx for allowing us to come thru
